The Bethany Children’s Home in India is not an institution or an orphanage, it is to provide a family atmosphere and upbringing for children who need special care.
Set up 21 years ago by Joseph Benziger, the children here come from destitute backgrounds to find a home where electricity, food and running water can be found, along with education and accommodation.
In the southern most part of India many people find themselves living in difficult conditions with very little in the way of eduction. These people have struggled under the shadow of illiteracy and poverty for many years, and if left to themselves may never be able to educate their children.
Mr Benziger was convinced that the second generation of children in Southern India could live decent lives through education and set up the Bethany Children’s home with his wife to try and make a difference. This is not an institution, this is a ‘home’ where Joeseph and his wife can care for the children as a mother and father would.
Bethany’s houses no more than 15 to 20 children at a time, with everyone living together, praying together and eating together. Each child is payed personal attention to give them the warmth of our love and acceptance they deserve. To improve their lot and to give their children a better future, Bethany’s takes in poor children irrespective of religion or community.
Bethany’s is a truly unique home, and one that has been run with no sponsors for 21 years. Please take the time to visit there website and find out more about the tireless efforts of the Benziger family to help the children of India into a brighter future.
