Oxfam UK were delighted when some of the biggest names in travel writing, including Michael Palin, launched OxTravels: Meetings with Remarkable Travel Writers at Daunt Books in Marylebone in London at the weekend. All royalties from the book, which was published on 26th May 2011, will go towards Oxfam’s life changing work around the globe.
All 36 contributors did so free of charge, and there’s some seriously heavyweight authors included in the book, such as –

William Dalrymple
Rory Stewart
Colin Thrubon
Sara Wheeler
Plus Aminatta Forna who has just won the Commonwealth Writers’ Prize Book of the Year 2011, and of course Michael Palin, who sculpted the foreword. OxTravels is also BBC Radio 4’s Book of the Week from Monday 30th May until Friday 3rd June 2011, so if you would like to hear some snippets from this amazing book, be sure to tune in a be enthralled by these breathtaking tales of time spent on the road. Having personally just spent 2 months travelling around South America, I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy!
