The Guardian newspaper has released a report showcasing the nation’s favourite charity gifts.
The top 10 has been compiled from a search of more than 200 charities by the independent charities watchdog Intelligent Giving.
As donations fall in line with the economic downturn, fundraisers are offering a plethora of amazing charity options to pass onto your loved ones this Christmas. On the list compiled in The Guardian, 3 of our featured products made the Top Ten –
Number 1: Camel £95 – Oxfam
In the study the camel from Oxfam Unwrapped was the most popular charity gift. A camel is a great means of transport, and also provides nutritious milk and even fuel and fertiliser from their dung. Camels can also go up to 15 days without water!
Number 2: Fish cages £20 – Practical Action
Practical Presents fish cage was number 2 on this years top ten charity gifts. Flooding ruins thousands of livelihoods by washing away homes and crops alike. A simple cage, made of bamboo and netting, enable those affected to breed fish, providing families with a protein-rich diet and a way to generate vital income.
Number 6: Girl’s school uniform £20 – World Vision
The newly renamed World Vision Must Have Gifts (formerly Alternative Gifts) also featured highly. Many children are denied an education because they can’t afford the school uniforms necessary to attend. For only £20, two uniforms can be provided to one girl to allow her education to prosper.
