The Royal Marsden is an internationally renowned specialist cancer centre, well known for its ground-breaking work in patient care, researching new drug therapies and treatment. Its cancer charity, The Royal Marsden Cancer Campaign, has launched an appeal to raise money for a new Children’s and Teenage Cancer Centre at their hospital in Sutton.
When the new centre opens in 2010, the inpatient and day patient capacity will double, allowing the hospital to treat more children and teenagers with cancer in an environment more suited to their needs and tastes. It will also host dedicated drug-development beds for children and teenagers, where new anti-cancer agents can be tested on site for the first time anywhere in the world.
