Ubaka U Rwanda (to build Rwanda) is a 5 year old Christian charity that helps children and young people turn their lives around in Kigali, the capital of Rwanda. Thanks to their tireless efforts Ubala U Rwanda has helped thousands of young people who have been driven onto the streets through genocide and poverty.
This small charity helps to provide food, clothes, shelter and medical care for the orphaned children of Kigali, with a new help centre founded last year in the capital to help with the influx of neglected young people. This centre provides the education and guidance to help these poor individuals back on their feet and lead self sufficient lives away from the street.
The centre, which houses over 40 boys, encourages sporting activities alongside education and daily employment training to help the boys gain much needed skills and exercise. All the boys are given the opportunity to go to school, with many other children coming in for the day to join in with the activities and eat.
The centre costs £1250 a month to cover the rent, bills, food, clothing, medical care and staffing to run day to day. This money is only available thanks to donations by the general public to maintain the upkeep of this worthwhile project. With more donations, the group could develop a micro finance project, such as create a traditional dance group for weddings to create their own funds, whilst also learning the skills to create decorative pen and greetings cards.
Ubaka U Rwanda believes that every individual has the right to life – life that can be lived – not just survived. You can be a part of this by supporting our organisation and the work we do.
