What Can a FARM-Africa Charity Goat Do?

Have you ever wondered what effect a charity goat can have? Well FARM-Africa Presents have been back to Meru District in Kenya to see the effects of their dairy goat and animal healthcare project, which ran from 1996 to 2005. Since the start of the project, household incomes in the district have increased by ten times!

Goats not only allow people to feed their families, but also provide them with a valuable source of income. Keeping this livestock healthy is of the utmost importance. Since the start of the project FARM-Africa’s staff have trained 47 Community Animal Health Workers to treat goats and other livestock, supervised by 26 Animal Health Assistants who establish rural drug shops in local market centres. We have also helped 4 Veterinarians to establish private veterinary practices.
